The calculation is indicative: composite is laid in parallel strips with continuous cutting of the rolls (the roll remainder continues in the next strip, minimum usable piece 1 m), welded wire mesh in a regular grid of sheets with edge cut pieces. Penetrations and atypical shapes are not accounted for. KOREFIB prices are loaded from the current e-shop offer; the steel price is based on your input. The comparison serves anti-shrinkage and distribution applications – it is not an automatic replacement for load-bearing reinforcement; for structurally significant elements, a structural engineer's design is required.

How much welded wire mesh do I need and what can replace it

Steel welded wire mesh is sold in 2×3 m sheets (6 m²), and during installation adjacent sheets overlap by typically 2 mesh openings – for mesh with 100×100 mm openings that's 20 cm, for 150×150 mm openings 30 cm. For 100 m² of flooring, "100 ÷ 6 = 17 sheets" is therefore never enough: with overlaps and edge cut pieces, the real consumption comes out 10–20% higher. The calculator above computes the exact number of sheets including a breakdown of cut pieces, the total weight, and the price based on your quoted price per m² or per sheet.

Welded wire mesh weight: why every kilogram counts

Common welded wire mesh weighs from 1.3 kg/m² (KA17) through 2 kg/m² (KA16) up to 4.4 kg/m² (KH30) – a single 2×3 m sheet thus weighs 8 to 27 kg, and for a mid-sized floor you carry dozens of them. The KOREFIB FiberMesh composite (GFRP) mesh weighs 246–455 g/m², is supplied on a roll, and for the same area you carry 4–10× less material. Replacing welded wire mesh with composite

In screeds, concrete floors, slabs on grade and other anti-shrinkage applications, steel welded wire mesh can be replaced with KOREFIB FiberMesh composite (GFRP) mesh certified to ETA and CE. What is compared is the reinforcement function – the tensile capacity per m² – not the wire diameter.
