Quality and Certified Products
With composite reinforcement, price, diameter or mesh spacing are not the only things that matter. What matters is whether the product has clearly declared properties, technical documentation and supporting documents usable for the design, the site and material inspection.
Without documentation there is no technical product
With GFRP reinforcement it is not enough to know that it is light and does not corrode. For correct use it is important to know the declared parameters, the way the properties were verified, and the documents that can be presented to a designer, a contractor or an investor.
Good documentation helps to determine what the product is intended for, what properties it has declared, and where its use must be verified by a responsible person.
Why documentation is decisive with composites
Composite reinforcement behaves differently from steel. It has a different stiffness, different anchorage, a different surface and a different way of transferring forces into concrete. That is why it is necessary to distinguish whether it is an ordinary sales description, or a genuine technical document.
Good documentation helps to determine what the product is intended for, what properties it has declared, and where the design or use needs to be verified by a responsible person.
What the individual documents mean
ETA
The European Technical Assessment describes the product, its properties and the way they are verified. For specific construction products it serves as an important technical basis.
DoP
The Declaration of Performance states the declared parameters of a specific product. It is not a marketing leaflet, but a document linked to the technical assessment and the control system.
Technical data sheet
A practical document for the customer, the designer and the contractor. It summarizes dimensions, properties, use, storage and basic recommendations for working with the product.
What the customer should check
- Whether the product clearly states its type, dimension, diameter, spacing and intended use.
- Whether a technical data sheet exists with parameters and recommendations for use.
- Whether the declared properties come with specific values, not just general statements.
- Whether a declaration of performance or another document appropriate to the product type is available.
- Whether the documentation corresponds to exactly the product being delivered to site.
The difference between a catalog and a technical document
A catalog helps with orientation in the range. A technical document, however, must contain specific information that can be used in the design, the inspection, or the decision about the suitability of a product.
If composite reinforcement is to be used responsibly, a general phrase like "high strength" or "steel replacement" is not enough. What matters are values, context and a clear definition of use.
Where to find KOREFIB documents
Technical data sheets, declarations of performance, certificates and other documents are available in the technical section of the website and with the individual products. For selected products the documentation is also available via a QR code on the label.
This makes it possible to quickly find the documents for a specific type of mesh, bar or fibers directly during site preparation, delivery inspection or communication with the designer.
